Governors

Our school governors play a vital role in ensuring that pupils receive a high quality education and by supporting the leadership team in planning for future development and improvement.

'We are a group of people with a variety of skills dedicated to supporting the headteacher and staff and to ensure that children receive the best education possible at Wellstead Primary School.

Responsible for making sure that the school is well managed and that it is a safe place for everyone. We oversee the curriculum and the finances in two separate committees and meet six times a year as a Full Governing Body.

Meetings consist of reports from the headteacher and staff which keep us up to date with events as well as policy reviews and discussions on educational matters.

A message from the governors – Autumn Term 2017

This has been a busy term in school and we have been busy too. The Full Governing Body has had very informative presentations from the Maths and English leaders who have explained the curriculum in detail. We have been impressed with the hard work that has gone into planning these subjects for all children. We have reviewed policy documents and members of the Resources Committee have been making sure that the children are getting an education which is value for money.  This has involved looking closely at the finances and the pay of all the teachers including the Head teacher and they have also been involved in appointing staff. The school Business Manager has handled the budget extremely well and we are grateful to her. This term the Learning Committee have been shown around the school by members of the School Council looking at  samples of work and they have also looked at performance data from the year groups, making sure that our children are achieving as well as possible. Our Chair of Governors  met with our MP Mims Davies when she visited the school and we have supported the events organized by fantastic PoW  where possible. We would like to thank Mr Robinson and the staff  and  wish you all a very happy Christmas. We look forward to meeting many of you next year.
